Pastured Pork Cook Off (8:00 AM)
Contestants are welcome for the pastured pork cook off to be held at the Glasbern Inn, Fogelsville PA, on Tuesday, September 14th.
The number of contestants will be limited and “we will have both a farmers’ table and a judges’ table to do the official taste testing. While the results are being tallied participants will have lunch after which the top three entries will be announced”, says Joanna Michini, one of the event’s organizers.
“We will have the winners explain their farming and pasture management systems and answer questions. We want to allow for maximum interaction among the farmers and create a beneficial learning experience through dialogue.”
Contestants will be asked to submit pork chops prior to the event. These chops will be appraised for appearance and visual quality before being grilled by Glasbern’s dedicated chefs and taste tested by the farmers and judging panel.
